Dominca is a mechanical & biomedical engineering technology development firm founded in 1996.

Our specialties include:

·          Theoretical & computational modeling of dynamic events

·          Design & testing of non-elastomeric devices to protect sensors from mechanical shock

·          Design & testing of human protective gear for blast trauma & hearing damage

·          Impact testing

·          Mechanical filtering of elastic waves

·          Equation of state modeling

·          Phase changes in solids

Our laboratory facilities include:

·          Split Hopkinson Pressure Bars

·          Impact pendulum

·          Shock tube (6-inch diameter)

·          Anechoic chamber (6’ x 6’ x 8’)

·          Instruments to measure sound speed in solids

Recent and current projects include designing a rigid mount that attenuates resonant inputs to a sensor, developing a blast mitigation jacket for training, investigating the propagation of extremely loud sound through the skull, developing a sensor for shear stress, development of blast resistant armor appliqués, and conducting tests to determine the dynamic stress-strain response of a novel material.
